Hidden in the hills of a small town called Mullumbimby, you'll find the gem that is the Crystal Castle. Ever since seeing a friends photos of the Crystal Castle about a year ago, I knew it was a placed I needed to visit at some point in my life. At the time, I had no plans on visiting Australia anytime soon, yet everything seemed to fall into place to get me to the Crystal Castle as soon as possible.

We had intended on staying in Byron Bay, though found the accommodation to be a little pricey for the standard that we were looking for. I ended up finding our Air Bnb in Mullumbimby, which just happened to be where the Crystal Castle is located, bonus! We stayed about a 15 minute drive away. I'm not quite sure how you would get to the Crystal Castle without a car, as it's pretty out of the way, though I'm sure you could hire a car or find a shuttle tour to take you.

The Crystal Castle opens at 10 AM and we arrived around 10:30 AM. Admission for adults is $32 (AUD) each. As you enter, you will see prayer wheels and a stupa.

We continued onto the reflexology area which has stones on the ground that you can walk on with bare feet, and surrounds a giant rose quartz. Though the stones on the ground don't look like much, it was not pleasant to walk on.

Reflexology Walk

You could proceed onto the rainforest walk, though we opted out because there was a warning sign for snakes (heheh). What we stumbled upon next was spectacular, the dragon egg. You can see what I mean by "dragon egg" below...

I could have stayed in there for hours! It was unreal. After admiring the dragon egg, we went in search of the main event...the worlds tallest crystal geodes! Not only are the geodes themselves breathtaking, the view behind them is amazing.

It wasn't super busy when we arrived, maybe only a few other families, so we had plenty of time to take photos and admire these amazing geodes. They really are massive! To the right of the geodes, are...more geodes! These geodes guide you into the garden or "The Buddha Walk". Check out a few of the highlights below.

After completing the walk, we sat down for a coffee at the cafe for a little break out of the sun. The cafe is vegetarian and it was a little pricey, so I would recommend eating before you come (there's also nothing around here so no other options if you are hungry). The cafe does have complimentary filtered water. After our little break, we did a 30 minute sound healing session which anyone can attend and it's complimentary!

This is my aura!

Aura Photo

Something that I wanted to do was have my aura photo taken. I'd never heard of this before and I'd also never been to a place where you could have your aura photo taken. It wasn't cheap...$60 (AUD), but it was something I really wanted to try and well... when in Rome! They recommend having the photo taken while you're calm, so I did it right after the sound healing. Basically, you sit in a chair, place your hands on what I think were heat sensors (not 100% sure, I should have asked!), they ask you to take a deep breath and close your eyes and then they take the photo. After the photo, they ask you to choose a crystal out of a bowl and I choose a citrine (the one in the picture). She explained citrine is the stone of abundance. It look about 2 minutes for the photo to develop and when it did this is what I saw...plenty of gold which means.. ABUNDANCE! They give you a little explanation on what the colours and the location of the colours means. I felt it all really resonated with me and I'm so glad I did it! In total it took about 15 minutes.

After my aura photo, we went to explore "Bamboo Avenue". The sound of the wind moving the bamboo was beautiful.

Before we decided to head out, I had to poke my head into this giant beauty, the Enchanted Cave. You can't sit in it (well you can for a price!), but you can take a peek inside!

Overall, LOVED the Crystal Castle. We spent about 3.5 hours wandering around. It was my favorite thing we've done here in Australia so far. I've never been any place like this and I've never heard of another place like this. I would go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend to anyone visiting the Byron Bay area.
