Our first week in Australia is complete! We started this adventure in Sydney and it did not disappoint. We stayed in an AirBnb at Bondi Beach that had an amazing location. It was cozy, quiet and fairly affordable (assuming you're splitting it with someone). I like AirBnb because if you have a kitchen, you can make your own meals. In Sydney, this was a big money saver for us as meals were averaging $20-$25 each (without drinks or sides).
While the location was amazing and right at Bondi Beach, we were a little bit out of the way from the main hustle and bustle of Sydney. Overall, I loved being close to the beach and coming home to an amazing view every day. You can find the AirBnb I stayed at here.
WHAT TO DO IN SYDNEY
Walking tour - we went on a free walking hour of the city which took us all around the CBD and explained a little bit of the history. The walking tour we had wasn't the greatest (we ended up leaving early), so I wouldn't recommend the company we went with, though I am glad we did get to learn a little bit of history.
Sydney Opera House - of course this is a MUST if you visit Sydney. While the area is packed with tourists, it's worth talking a stroll just to take in the beauty and essence of the Opera House.
Ferry To Manly - not only is Manly beach worth the trip, the ferry ride in itself is worth it! There is a fast track ferry that leaves from Sydney Harbour (Wharf 2) and takes you to Manly. It costs $9.70 (AUD) each way. The views of the harbour and the opera house are AMAZING and it's an affordable way to see the city from the water.
Bondi to Coogee - the coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee is breathtaking. The views are spectacular and you walk through a massive cemetery that is right on the ocean. It's beautiful. It did take us a few hours to complete the walk and we took the bus back to Bondi after we were done because we were too tired to walk back. If you do this walk, try to go earlier to beat the heat (especially in summer months). We left around 3PM and it was VERY hot. If you're a runner, this would be an amazing place for your morning run. While it is a long walk, it's not super strenuous, so any fitness level could do it.
Bondi Icebergs - love the beach views but don't want the sand in your bathing suit bottoms? Bondi Icebergs may be the perfect place for you! While there are many ocean front pools along the coast from Bondi to Coogee, Bondi Icebergs is definitely the most iconic and the most scenic. Because of that, it's very busy. It's only $8 (AUD) for an adult to get in for the day and you can enjoy the pools and the sauna. Watch the waves crash against the pool, soak in some rays, and cool down in the icebergs. Pretty good for $8 if you ask me.
VEGAN FOOD IN SYDNEY
We had a great week in Sydney. The food was great, public transit was easy, and we also did a lot of walking. Sydney can be expensive, though I feel like we did a great job of keeping our costs low by making our own meals, taking public transit and taking advantage of free or moderately priced activities. Up next...GOLD COAST!
Beautiful photos!!
